There is just never a dull moment in education! Tonight we celebrated the graduation of our Class of 2013, and even though I didn't actually teach any of them, I was bursting with pride at just having known and befriended them. Some of the students gave speeches and musical performances, and two girls in particular sang "Hallelujah" and made half the audience tear up. It was a beautiful evening and I am so happy that I was able to attend and support the girls that I have gotten to know so well this year.
This was the icing on the cake of a magnificent week of PD. You may think I'm joking, but I sincerely declare that I love moderation! Yes, it's very tiring and often repetitive; but the wonderful people you meet and work with, and all the insight you gain into a subject...I just adore it and I'm sad that I'm unlikely to be able to attend any next year. I love what you learn by being there and what you can bring back to your school and make the subject better; gaining new ideas, and confirming others; professional networking and all the lame teacher jokes that come with a room full of tired educators on sugar highs.
